It was a long Independence Day Weekend. We loved having the time off. It allowed us to drive down south to spend some time with our families. Jennifer's aunt lives near Nashville, Indiana - a small town that is known for its folk art community. Then we drove even further south to Mt. Vernon, Indiana to spend some time with my family.
The kids love three things about my brother's house - The big tractors, the swimming pool, and the fireworks.
No matter how big or small the boys are... they love huge machines.
With temperatures near 100 degrees... the pool was a very popular place.
And never far from my fingers is my Canon Mark III... for moments such as these. It just takes a moment to create a portrait... ones that we will treasure forever.
We hope you had a very happy & safe Independence Day... and we hope you stay cool this summer.
It's fun to try something a little different in the same places. Kara & Frank wanted to go into Chicago for their engagement portrait session. But instead of hitting the main Chicago tourist attractions, we headed to Lake Shore Drive near the Museum of Science and Industry for a few beach and skyline portraits. Man, did we hit the jackpot. The day was overcast (with a storm blowing in). That kept most people off the beach... which was perfect for us. Although the sun wasn't out, their love shone brightly... and that's the most important thing of all. And the rain held off until we started driving back home.
Have Camera, Will Travel: Mom has been wanting to go see Mt. Rushmore in South Dakota for years. So, a couple of my siblings decided to just go... Jennifer and I flew in from Chicago, my sister Samantha flew in from Boston, and my mom, my sister Joyce and her husband Don drove up in a van. We have so much fun when we are together... and the majesty of Mt. Rushmore and the beauty of the Black Hills and its wildlife gave me plenty of "Kodak Moments"... I really enjoyed photographing the wildlife... and when we got bored, we all tried on silly hats... we LOVE silly hats... and I hope you enjoy seeing us don our gay appearal. We hope you have a fun and safe summer.
Engagement portrait sessions are our first real chance to get to know a couple before photographing their wedding. Jessica and Aaron decided that they wanted to go downtown Chicago for their portraits. It was a beautiful day... just a bit windy... they don't call Chicago the Windy City for nothing. Jessica and Aaron are so fun... a little goofy... and so much in love. We had such a wonderful time photographing them. They are perfect for each other - always laughing... and there was no prodding them to kiss. It was like a Big Red commercial... Kiss a Little Longer... We can't wait to photograph their wedding.
We can hardly believe it's true... another school year is over... and that brings an end to this year's Band program. We were so happy to be able to capture these talented young people in some wonderful portraits. We are so happy that Books, Brushes & Bands for Education is there for these young people and for our community. We are all better when we enrich our lives with the Arts.
